About this role
Straight Arrow is seeking a creative and versatile Graphic Designer with 4–5 years of experience in a digital or broadcast news environment. This role will play a key part in elevating Straight Arrow’s visual content across digital, social, marketing and newsletter platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong design fundamentals with a passion for visual communication and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Visual Design & Content Creation
- Design high-quality visual assets, including digital graphics, marketing materials, featured images and branded content.
- Create engaging visuals for social media, web, email campaigns and other digital platforms.
- Ensure all creative output aligns with brand guidelines and maintains visual consistency.
Brand Development
- Contribute to the evolution and consistency of the brand identity across all channels.
- Translate creative concepts into compelling visuals that communicate the brand’s voice and mission.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, editorial, and leadership.
- Interpret creative briefs and provide design solutions that meet business and editorial goals.
- Present concepts and incorporate feedback effectively.
Project Management & Execution
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through final delivery.
- Maintain organized project files and adhere to timelines and deadlines.
Quality & Performance
- Deliver high-quality, detail-oriented work under tight deadlines.
- Stay up to date with design trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve output.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Must have had formal training in design/art. Please don't apply if you are not a designer.
- 4–5+ years of professional graphic design experience (agency, media, or in-house).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD; After Effects a plus).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of digital, social, newsletter and branding work.
- Excellent typography, layout, color and visual storytelling skills.
- Ability to take initiative, manage time effectively and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Great attention to detail with strong spelling and grammar skills
- Passion for unbiased journalism and understanding of the current media landscape.
- Must provide a link to a current demo reel.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $60,000-$75,000.
