About the role
Business Intelligence and Reporting Specialist
As a BI Analyst on our Data Platform Team, you will be responsible for creating detailed insights and visualizations that are easily distillable for customers who purchase our Business Intelligence solutions. You will work closely with product teams across Storable and with customers to quickly prototype and iterate, while templatizing successful dashboards and reporting products for current and future use. This role bridges data analytics and product management to foster innovation and optimization across our product offerings.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with product managers to intake design requirements and expected results
- Develop customer-facing BI dashboards and reports that are insightful, impactful, and easy to understand.
- Write highly complex SQL queries that span multiple tables while ensuring speedy query performance.
- Work with product and data engineering to maintain a highly performant data environment
- Provide recommendations to the product team on new features in the BI tool that would increase value to our solutions
- Build highly repeatable and scalable models that can be used across multiple product lines, even tying many product lines together in a cohesive and intelligent manner.
- Rapidly develop, test, gather feedback, and iterate on queries and data visualizations.
- Collaborate with Product Manager and UX Designers to create screen mockups and prototypes.
- Act as the final step of validation before new reports are delivered.
- Preview working software with the team as well as internal and external stakeholders to ensure product updates are understood, communicated, and properly supported.
- Co-develop with Product Manager a centralized internal knowledge hub where report resources and documentation will live.
What you'll need:
- A highly enthusiastic nature keen on working in a fast-paced, start-up feeling environment.
- A check twice, ship once mentality, with a focus on thorough validation and quality assurance of data and reports before delivering final outputs.
- Expert, hands-on experience in writing and debugging SQL, LookML queries.
- Demonstrated experience in modern data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI).
- Basic understanding of Python and Airflow.
- Ability to see through the eyes of our end customers to deliver simple yet meaningful dashboard and reports.
- High level of self-accountability in meeting deadlines.
- Ability to make recommendations that impact multiple product lines.
- 3-5 years of data analysis experience, ideally in a product-focused role within a tech company.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience working in a nimble product delivery organization where product, design, and engineering work in close collaboration.
