Responsibilities
Position Purpose
This Accounting Reconciliation Intern position provides hands-on experience in core finance and operations functions, with a focus on daily reconciliations, research, and analytical support for bank payment activity. Interns will assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies across internal and external systems, investigate cash breaks, and analyze transaction flows to ensure accurate and timely processing. The role also offers exposure to the fixed income market, helping interns build foundational knowledge of bonds, and market dynamics relevant to institutional trading and operations. In addition, interns are encouraged to study for the FINRA SIE exam, gaining important industry knowledge.
Job Responsibilities
- Learn how to perform daily bank reconciliations by comparing internal ledger activity to external bank statements.
- Help investigate discrepancies through detailed research, supporting timely resolution and enhanced accuracy of financial records.
- Gain an understanding of securitized product principal and interest payments, ensuring correct allocation and accruals.
- Exposure to the settlements process for both FED WIRE and DTC by reviewing trade files and ensuring proper distributions.
- Study for the FINRA SIE entrance exam.
Qualifications
Early Careers Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant program with finance or economics being an advantage and graduating between December 2026 and August 2027 (entering penultimate year of university).
- Available for a June 2026 start date for an 8 – 10-week program.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (preferably Excel & PowerPoint).
- Interested in obtaining SIE and series exams.
- Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer.
