Human Resources Operations Specialist
Steampunk is seeking a Human Resources Operations Specialist to support our corporate and internal customers in Tysons Corner, VA.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the position are to provide administrative support to the Human Resources and Staffing teams as well as other corporate departments. The nature of the work requires that the candidate demonstrate initiative, organization, responsibility, customer service skills, and the ability to be flexible and adaptive to a fast-paced, growing and fluid business environment. Helps to improve efficiencies across the Human Resources department through creation of reports, resolution of issues, and monitoring/tracking of business processes related to the team to recommend improvements. The candidate must be able to communicate professionally, effectively and decisively with all levels of the organization, and be able to solve practical problems as well as exercise sound judgement with regard to sensitive and confidential information.
Contributions
- Conduct employee new hire orientation and helping to organize training and development initiatives.
- Support the new employee system set-up, onboarding, orientation, and follow-up of new employees.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries via phone, email, HR inbox, and Service Desk tickets, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Support HR transaction processing and data base (HRIS) administration to ensure timely and accurate completion of updates, and maintaining accurate accounts and information.
- Assist in coordinating various HR-related events and programs, such as open enrollment, performance reviews, benefit and policy updates, training reimbursement, etc.
- Maintain accurate employee records, files, and confidential HR correspondence.
- Identify, prioritize, manage, and monitor improvement opportunities.
- Prepare company-wide communications and assist with reporting and presentations.
- Partner with HR team members and cross-functional groups to drive operational efficiency and support broader HR initiatives.
- Adapt to evolving business needs by taking on additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of human resources experience
- B.A. or B.S.
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills
- Detail and Action oriented
- Project Management
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Experience working in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Interest in learning new skills and ability to pick things up quickly
- Experience working with HRIS & ATS
- Basic knowledge of Human Resources principles
- Ability to prioritize and work independently
- Local to DMV area
- Will be required to be in the office 2-3 days per week
