- Salary: $73,779 to $86,798 + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga
We’re looking for a Statistical and Data Analyst to join the Institutional Sectors unit in our Insights & Statistics branch. This team produces a broad range of economic and financial statistics that help tell the story of New Zealand. In this role, you’ll prepare and analyse data, apply sound judgment, and draw meaningful conclusions within established conceptual frameworks and real‑world contexts. Working alongside subject matter experts, you’ll help deliver some of New Zealand’s key statistical releases—ensuring they follow best practice and provide valuable insights.
About Institutional Sectors
This team sits within the Statistical Delivery – Macroeconomic branch and produces economic data about households, central and local government, and a range of business sectors. Recent releases include: National accounts (income and expenditure), National accounts (income, saving, assets, and liabilities), Local authority statistics. This recruitment round may be used to fill additional positions across the Insights and Statistics team, including roles within the Integrated Data Production team. This role would suit someone who can bring:
- A genuine interest in economic data
- Curiosity, strong data analysis skills, and a natural ability to problem solve.
- Great written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with a range of people.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economics, accounting, social science, computer science, statistics.
- Knowledge or commitment to developing understanding of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo, Te Ao Māori
- Demonstrated advocacy for, or support of, diversity and inclusion.
