Who We Are Looking For

State Street cyber architecture & engineering is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement robust data models across relational, graph, and lakehouse systems. This role will leverage AWS RDS, AWS Neptune/Neo4J, and Databricks/Snowflake, contributing significantly to AI enablement by building GraphRAG (Graph Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines. These pipelines will power intelligent search and LLM-based applications. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers and AI teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a balance between working from home and in the office to suit individual needs and role requirements.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Data Modeling: Design relational schemas in AWS RDS and graph models in AWS Neptune/Neo4J. Develop warehouse/lakehouse schemas in Databricks Delta Lake or Snowflake for advanced analytics and machine learning.
• GraphRAG Enablement: Implement graph-based retrieval and seamlessly integrate it with vector search for critical AI use cases. Generate embeddings and manage complex hybrid retrieval pipelines that combine graph and vector data.
• Data Pipelines: Build efficient ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake/Databricks, Airflow, and various AWS Services such as Glue. Ensure the highest standards of data quality, consistency, and freshness across all systems.
• Performance & Optimization: Tune queries and optimize storage solutions for GraphDB, RDS, and data warehousing environments. Support data environments to ensure all SLAs (uptime and performance) are consistently met.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with data scientists, AI engineers, and development teams to support knowledge graph and RAG workflows. Document data models thoroughly and maintain stringent governance standards.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or engineering.
• 7–10 years of experience in data analysis, data model design, and implementation, specifically in delivering scalable, enterprise-grade data solutions within a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage and mentor team members, providing necessary training and guidance.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Superior verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
• Very strong practical experience in implementing large, mature incident and change management processes.
• Team player, ethical, self-driven, self-motivated, and strongly goal and results-oriented.
• Experience in building and managing diverse geographically located teams, actively championing customer satisfaction.
• Experience in support or implementation of IAM products.
• Experience in implementing SDLC engagement projects, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and application support.

Required Skills

• 7–10 years of experience in data engineering or similar roles.
• Strong SQL proficiency and schema design for AWS RDS (PostgreSQL/MySQL) to support enterprise applications.
• Strong experience in building Enterprise Warehousing solutions.
• Hands-on experience with GraphDB modeling and exposure to AWS Neptune or Neo4J.
• Proficiency in Databricks or Snowflake, PySpark.
• Familiarity with GraphRAG concepts, embeddings, and vector search.
• Strong programming experience in Python for data pipelines and API integration.

Additional Preferred Experience

• Experience with LangChain or LlamaIndex for RAG workflows.
• Knowledge of graph algorithms, entity linking, and semantic search.
• Strong exposure to Cloud Environment (AWS).
• Snowflake or Databricks certifications are a significant plus.
