Job Overview
The State of Vermont is seeking a Transportation Operations Technician I. In this role, you will perform various highway maintenance tasks including repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more.
Winter Duties
During winter months, you will assist with plowing and salting. Considerable overtime work is required during this season and is a condition of employment.

Who May Apply
This position is open to all State employees and external applicants. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Specific level applications are required if considering multiple levels.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license is required.
- CDL is required after the successful completion of original probation.
- Completion or enrollment in VTTC required coursework within six months.
- Applicants must live within reasonable proximity of the assigned workstation.
Environmental Factors
This role requires working in extreme outdoor weather conditions and near potential hazards. Random drug and alcohol testing is required prior to operating vehicles or equipment.
