Overview

The Environmental Engineer 12 - Hazardous Waste Section position serves as the senior worker responsible for independently using environmental engineering and project management skills related to Part 111 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (Act 451) and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This role involves engineering reviews of complex and controversial hazardous waste facility license applications, closure/postclosure plans, and corrective action plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering reviews for hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal projects.
  • Draft licenses, approvals, or denials for various hazardous waste projects.
  • Coordinate review processes with Department staff and external agencies.
  • Act as a technical resource for license applicants, the public, and internal teams.
  • Support projects for The Dow Chemical Company sites and Dow Silicones Corporation.

Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree in engineering is required along with three years of professional experience in environmental engineering, including one year at the Environmental Engineer P11 level.
