Description of Job

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) provides services used by nearly every resident of the State. Colorado residents utilize identification, driver, and vehicle services at State and County offices to obtain identification cards, driver licenses, vehicle registrations, titles, and other related services. Additionally, the DMV licenses and provides oversight of private businesses and government organizations that provide driver and emission testing services. Finally, the division works closely with other state agencies and programs to provide information and education to serve the public and encourage voluntary compliance.

The Vehicle Services Program (VSP) within the DMV is a large and diverse division with functions across the state, working with all of Colorado's 64 counties. This Section is on the high end of legislation changes every year and includes many operational changes, making it incredible fast-paced and ever-evolving.

Responsibilities

The Executive Assistant to the VSP Director is a high visibility role with a wide range of responsibilities. This includes regular, professional interaction with executives and elected officials. Common responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the director's email, diverting correspondence as necessary.
  • Managing the director's schedule, scheduling meetings as appropriate, and facilitating meetings in the director's absence.
  • Coordinating public meetings, sending out invitations, formulating agendas, capturing meeting minutes, and distributing action items as appropriate.
  • Assist with correspondence and distribution of new policies and procedures on the director's behalf.
  • Design and present meeting slide decks and materials for program office hours and as the director requests.

Remote Work Information

This position is designated as remote but may be required to work from a department office building location based on business needs. Employees are responsible to provide and maintain a home office or other suitable remote work location as well as Internet and a secure Wi-Fi connection. All performance expectations, productivity, and policy adherence requirements apply to remote work from home in the same manner as those assigned to an office.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only:

Five (5) years of relevant experience in an Executive Assistant, Program Coordinator, or other applicable Administrative Assistant role supporting management or director level roles.

OR

Education And Experience

A combination of related education in Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Communications, or a similar field and/or relevant experience in an Executive Assistant, Program Coordinator, or other applicable Administrative Assistant role supporting management or director level roles equal to five (5) years.

Conditions Of Employment With The CDOR

Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence. As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
