Job Summary: Senior Software Engineer & Generative AI Lead

Join our Tel Aviv based Starkey Innovation Team and help shape the future of hearing technology in one of the world's largest and most innovative hearing aid companies. In this hybrid role you will serve as the company’s resident expert on Generative AI, lead a small group of software developers, and roll up your sleeves to build rapid prototypes that turn bold ideas into working solutions. You will focus on mobile and cloud software, collaborate closely with other teams, and drive high-impact innovation from idea to prototype.

Key Responsibilities

• Generative AI Subject Matter Expert: Lead our company's efforts to explore and apply cutting-edge GenAI technologies to real-world challenges in hearing care.
• Team Lead for Innovation Software Developers: Guide and mentor a small team working on mobile and cloud-based innovation projects.
• Hands-on Technical Contributor: Actively develop proof-of-concept projects, with a focus on GenAI, mobile, and cloud solutions that push boundaries and deliver value.

Job Responsibilities/Results

• Act as the internal GenAI subject-matter expert (SME). Stay current with developments, assess opportunities, advise teams, and represent our company in conversations with GenAI providers.
• Design, code, test, and demo GenAI-based prototypes that integrate cloud and mobile components to enhance user experience, clinician tools, or internal workflows.
• Identify opportunities to leverage GenAI across the business, translating ideas into prototypes and product features.
• Lead and mentor a small innovation software team, managing development cycles, providing technical direction and supporting their professional growth.
• Evaluate GenAI and cloud solutions for scalability, privacy, and performance.
• Promote agile, experiment-driven development practices that balance speed and technical rigor.
• Prepare schedules and communicate progress, risks, and learnings to stakeholders.
• Communicate with other stakeholders in the company to keep everyone driving in the same direction.

Job Requirements

Education

• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Experience

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, hands-on working mobile and cloud projects.
• Experience leading or mentoring developers is a strong plus.

Knowledge / Technical Requirements

• Programming: Strong hands-on proficiency in relevant programming languages. Experience with Swift or Kotlin is a plus.
• Cloud: Hands-on experience designing and deploying cloud-native services (such as APIs, serverless functions, and data workflows) on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• GenAI Integration: Demonstrated experience integrating GenAI APIs (such as Azure OpenAI or Vertex AI), including prompt engineering, prototyping, and tuning for usability and cost.
• Mobile & Frontend: Working knowledge of native iOS or Android development or modern frontend frameworks.
• Firmware/Hardware: Familiarity with firmware concepts or experience collaborating with hardware teams is a strong plus.
