Business Developer SLED
As a Business Developer SLED, you will be responsible for hunting within a defined territory to achieve two main objectives: penetrating existing accounts by acquiring net new sites and effectively ramping and onboarding these accounts to expand our customer base. This is a high-velocity sales position that utilizes a prioritized action list to drive engagement activities and manage opportunities through the sales funnel. The role requires strong collaboration with Account Management to build strategies for site acquisition, with new site targets provided by Sales Ops or selected in partnership with Account Management. You will be expected to travel to meet clients face to face, as well as effectively use remote methods (phone/internet) to maintain and grow sales relationships within your owned geographies.
What you’ll be doing:
- Consistently meet activity goals and daily metrics with a hunter mindset, including outbound dials, sell time, live contacts, and created opportunities.
- Effectively partner with Account Management to determine site hunting strategy within existing accounts.
- Collaborate with GPO FSDs to understand contractual complexity and refine net new logo strategy within the Complex segment.
- Travel to meet clients face to face and engage with new sites to maintain and grow sales relationships across the account hierarchy.
- Develop expertise on contract and coop availability within designated geographies.
- Influence on-the-spot pricing decisions to cultivate a seamless customer experience.
- Manage the sales funnel to close opportunities.
- Utilize professional selling skills to discover prospects' incremental and programmatic needs, effectively communicate Staples' value propositions, capabilities, products, and assortments, overcoming objections, and closing sales.
- Utilize prescribed selling tools such as Priority List, Tenfold, and SFDC to prioritize activities, drive efficiency, and document customer engagement.
- Work effectively with customer support/set up teams and category specialists to progress deals to closed won.
- Implement and ramp wins, driving compliance to new account/program.
- Demonstrate expertise in prospect industry buying processes and support product selection and standardization.
- Generate over $750K per year in revenue.
- Create sticky accounts that foster continued purchases from Staples.
- Execute strategies defined by the Senior Leadership Team, integrating prospect feedback into the sales approach.
- Support new customer assortment and pricing.
- Communicate and work closely with Category Specialists and Support teams.
- Communicate with prospects daily in person and face to face in a professional manner.

- Demonstrated experience and track record in business development.
- Strong ability to develop and deliver presentations virtually and in person.
- Proficiency in consultative selling, solutions selling, insight selling, negotiation, and advanced client management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with product category sales team members.
- Strong business, financial, operations, and technology acumen.
- Ability to analyze business and industry trends to create tailored solutions for prospects based on Staples' value proposition.
- Ability to function independently with minimal daily supervision.

- Demonstrated work ethic and self-discipline.
- Ability to succeed in a competitive selling or goal-oriented environment.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of successful sales experience or success as a Staples B2B Sales Associate.
- 1-3 years of experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.

- Salary range from $51,000 - $70,000 plus commissions.
