About the Role

The RRSD Unit supports the Group Risk Function and provides peripheral support to the CEO CIB Function. It manages a wide range of activities for Enterprise Risk Analytics, Traded Risk Management, and Risk & Compliance Reporting teams of the Group Risk and Retail Credit Risk reporting for Group Retail Risk. The unit is also expanding to support the CEO CIB Office with Credit Portfolio Management.

Risk Data Hub

The Risk Data Hub is primarily responsible for sourcing and maintaining risk data. This includes data wrangling activities such as gathering, transforming, mapping, building business views, and automating sourcing processes to enhance data quality for downstream purposes like analytics, reporting, and visualization.

Strategy

  • Help ensure appropriate Business As Usual (BAU) controls are established and deployed effectively in GBS.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to create and build next-generation data products and analytics solutions.
  • Assess problem statements and propose potential solutions by advocating for and enabling data-driven analytics.
  • Contribute to or lead the development of prototype solutions, coordinating with other areas of ERM, demonstrating to users, and gathering feedback.
  • Conduct thorough validation and data quality checks to ensure accurate and value-adding solutions are delivered.

Business

  • Work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, across all seniority levels, to address urgent and strategic risk management needs.
  • Coordinate with ERM teams such as Stress Testing, IFRS9, and Credit Risk Modelling to leverage existing results, analytics, or processes.

Processes

  • Provide expertise in migrating Proof of Concept (PoC) projects to production in collaboration with various teams.

People & Talent

  • Lead by example and demonstrate the bank’s culture and values.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risks to the Group related to Data Quality.
  • Ensure adherence to the Group BCBS 239 standard where appropriate.
  • Provide timely and high-quality responses to both internal and external queries and requests.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters.

Other Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree, technical degree preferred (Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.).
  • Extensive programming experience using SQL, Python, SAS, Excel Automation.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent analytical, logical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience in data used for models' development and best practices in data management.
  • Previous experience in risk management, Stress Testing, or IFRS9 is an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills at all levels and situations.
  • Exposure to advanced machine learning methodologies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data models.
  • Coding knowledge is preferable.
  • Product knowledge in Tableau.
  • Post-Graduation in Finance with relevant 3+ years of experience.
  • Risk Certifications from established institutions are recommended.
  • Technical Certifications in Advanced Excel Automation, SQL / Tableau / SAS / Python will be preferred.

Key Competencies

  • Prior experience working with SQL, SAS/PY is required.
  • Experience working in the Banking Risk vertical with expertise in Data Analysis.

General Skill Set

  • Strong knowledge in Data Analytics.
  • Awareness of trading environment, macroeconomic fundamentals, market moves & potential impact on exposures.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a global team.
  • Expertise in programming language is not required but good to have.
  • Working knowledge in MS Excel, Access.
  • Knowledge about Operational Risk.
  • Documentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Group’s businesses, governance structure, and approach to risk management.
  • Experience in team admin tasks/cost controller/project accountant role with familiarity to SCB project management standards/tools would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in Agile framework.
  • Experience in major regulatory programs in the Risk/Finance, Banking industry – BCBS, IMM, CVA etc.
