Controller, OAS at Stambaugh Ness
Stambaugh Ness (SN) is seeking an experienced OAS Controller to lead outsourced accounting and advisory engagements for clients in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients while overseeing financial reporting, team leadership, client onboarding, and process improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings strong AEC accounting expertise, hands-on experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements in a fast-paced, remote consulting environment.
What You’ll Do At SN
Client Accounting & Advisory
- Lead outsourced accounting engagements for AEC clients, ensuring accurate and timely financial deliverables
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Develop ad-hoc financial reports and insights that help clients improve operational and financial performance
- Oversee onboarding of new clients and establish strong working relationships from day one
- Monitor and improve accounting processes, workflows, and efficiencies across engagements
- Serve as a proactive, client-facing advisor and strategic partner
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members assigned to client engagements
- Ensure team productivity, billability, quality, and deadline adherence
- Provide coaching, training, and support to internal staff and client accounting personnel
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment
Business Development
- Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships
- Participate in networking and relationship-building activities that support business growth

Required
What it takes to be a Controller, OAS:
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including experience at or above the Senior Accountant level
- Experience within the AEC industry
- Proficiency with Deltek Vision and/or Deltek Vantagepoint
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent client engagements and deadlines
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred
- CPA or equivalent professional certification
- Experience managing outsourced accounting or client accounting services teams
- Advanced AEC project accounting experience, including billing, revenue recognition, and consultant management
