Pharmacist Clinical Specialist

Job Summary And Qualifications
As a Pharmacist Clinical Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring clinical protocols and guidelines and enhancing the delivery of evidence based medicine. You will serve as the expert medication management team member in collaboration with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff. You will provide medication distribution support, order entry, clinical intervention, research, performance and quality improvement, and representation at the medical center committees and meetings.
- Provide leadership and comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients.
- Collaborate with others to resolve medication-related issues, including the development of interventions, monitoring and documentation of actions and outcomes.
- Promote and demonstrate pharmaceutical care that optimizes safety, efficacy, and cost.
- Educate prescribers and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Provide training and education to pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians as appropriate.
- Foster development of non-specialist pharmacist knowledge, skills, and ability in providing pharmaceutical care to patients in specialists’ area.
- Play an active role in supporting facility, state, federal regulatory and accreditation activities and initiatives.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Practice Residency or Commensurate Board Certification or Commensurate experience.
- Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Specialized Residency in area of specialty - preferred.
- Current Pharmacist license with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
- Sterile Products (IV) Certification through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) within 60 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) as per St. David’s Healthcare Policy.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as per St. David’s Healthcare Policy.
- Pediatric Life Support (PALS) as per St. David’s Healthcare Policy.

St. David's South Austin Medical Center is a 368-bed acute care hospital within St. David’s HealthCare, offering comprehensive specialty and sub-specialty services.
