Job Summary

As a Certified Surgical Technologist - Pediatrics at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, you will work under the supervision of a surgeon, circulating Registered Nurse, or other licensed practitioners. Your primary role is to ensure a safe operating room environment, proper equipment function, and the conduct of operative procedures under conditions that maximize patient safety. You will handle instruments, equipment, and supplies necessary for pediatric surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform aseptic technique to maintain a sterile field.
  • Set up the sterile field efficiently and accurately.
  • Hand instruments and equipment to the surgeon as needed.
  • Properly label medications on the back table.
  • Prepare sterile dressings.
  • Care for surgical instruments.
  • Participate actively in sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
  • Contribute to the sign-in, timeout, and sign-out process for each procedure.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

Completion and maintenance of all required competencies and trainings for the role. Post High School Diploma Program completion is required.

Experience

No prior experience is required for this position.

Certification and Licensure

  • BLS Certification is required.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or NCCT is required. New graduates must obtain certification within 6 months of graduation.
