Housing Management Officer

Salary: Scale 6, Points 26-28, £26,229 - £27,982 per annum, pro rata
Hours of Work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Main Duties
As an HMO you will:
Tenancy & Rent Management
- Ensure young people understand their occupancy agreements and obligations.
- Assist young people in maximising their incomes via benefit claims.
- Help manage rent accounts and address arrears issues.
- Support utility, council tax account setup and payment responsibilities.
- Manage possession and eviction processes with central team support.
Allocations, Letting & Voids
- Manage waiting lists and offer accommodations as required.
- Oversee the void process ensuring properties meet standards.
- Arrange viewings and let void properties, managing tenancy agreements.
- Lead process of inducting new young people.
Intensive Housing Management
- Support tenancies, employment access and independent living preparation.
- Signpost to relevant services and assist with debt management.
- Manage resident consultations and challenging behaviours using PIE principles.
- Engage with young people to identify and achieve housing goals.
Property & Building Management
- Conduct regular inspections and raise maintenance issues promptly.
- Perform routine health, safety, and compliance testing.
- Manage recharges for damages and ensure repairs quality.
- Handle cleaning duties, risk assessments and liaise with external agencies.
- Control building access and coordinate contractor visits.
Qualifications
Essential: GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade 4 or above; working towards or possessing a CIH Level 3 qualification in Housing Management or equivalent.
Desirable: Full, current UK Driving Licence.
Role Experience
Essential: Experience working with young people in property management, housing officer or tenancy sustainment roles; customer facing experience; managing arrears and using housing management systems.
Desirable: Experience in safeguarding, employability schemes, using QL, and further experience with young people.
Knowledge
Essential: Familiarity with registered provider standards, housing management best practices, and health & safety compliance.
Desirable: Understanding safeguarding, legal processes for possession, and the benefits system.
