This Cloud Engineer role focuses on supporting the migration of legacy applications into the SSNC Private Cloud and providing third-line support for existing applications. The position requires strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to automation, and adherence to architectural standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Migration & Support:
- Lead and support the migration of legacy applications into the SSNC Private Cloud.
- Provide third-line support for existing cloud-based applications.
Automation & Stability:
- Drive automation initiatives for builds, monitoring, and recovery actions.
- Ensure consistent, high-performing, and stable application deployments.
Technical Design & Architecture Compliance:
- Act as a technical resource to produce solution designs aligned with project requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with SSNC architecture guidelines, policies, and timelines.
Documentation & Governance:
- Develop and review High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
- Provide governance over Infrastructure Engineering policies and procedures.
- Ensure team delivers designs within defined architectural parameters.
Collaboration & Expertise:
- Offer in-depth technical expertise to Infrastructure Engineering teams.
- Work closely with stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of cloud migration strategies and private cloud environments.
- Expertise in automation tools and practices for builds and monitoring.
- Ability to produce and review technical documentation (HLDs, LLDs).
- Familiarity with architectural frameworks, governance, and compliance standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Good English written and spoken communication skills are a requirement of this role.
- Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible for provisioning, configuration, and orchestration in private cloud environments.
- Version Control & Collaboration: Strong knowledge of Git/GitHub workflows for code versioning, collaboration, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Operating Systems: Proficient in Windows and Linux, including automated OS deployment, patching, and configuration management.
- Observability & Monitoring: Experience implementing and maintaining observability solutions for cloud infrastructure, including metrics, logging, and alerting.
- Networking Fundamentals: Solid understanding of network concepts, routing, firewalls, and private cloud network topologies; ability to troubleshoot connectivity and security issues.
- Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python, including automation of repetitive tasks and integration with cloud and monitoring systems.
- Certificate Management: Experience managing digital certificates, including automated issuance, renewal, and monitoring.
- Automated / Scripted Recovery: Ability to implement recovery automation, including disaster recovery, failover processes, and self-healing infrastructure.
- AI & Intelligent Automation: Awareness of AI-driven tools for automation, predictive monitoring, or operational efficiency.
- Experience working in cloud infrastructures, including virtualization, resource management, and secure deployments.
- Collaboration & Problem-Solving: Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, contribute to design discussions, and solve complex infrastructure challenges.
