Every solution is backed by committed human support.

The company moves fast, cares deeply, and champions independent restaurant operators. If you're driven to make a significant impact with heart and hustle, SpotOn welcomes you.
The Role: Engineering Manager, Network and Platform
The Client Environments team at SpotOn serves as the critical link between the company's cloud infrastructure and the physical restaurant network. This includes managing routers, access points, POS Android devices, and monitoring systems vital for continuous restaurant operations. The team treats merchant sites as first-class infrastructure, applying platform engineering discipline to field networks.
SpotOn is seeking an Engineering Manager, Network and Platform to spearhead this evolution. This role combines technical leadership, operational rigor, and systems thinking to transform reactive support into a system of reliable, observable, and self-healing client environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor engineers specializing in Network and Android (Elo) systems, fostering a strong culture of ownership and reliability.
- Drive the adoption of GitOps for network and device configuration, ensuring deployments are consistent, testable, and reversible.
- Oversee Mobile Device Management (MDM) and device lifecycle management for Elo tablets and Android handhelds, ensuring streamlined provisioning and policy enforcement.
- Manage the operational feedback loop: closely monitor client incidents, analyze recurring issues, and lead root-cause elimination through systemic changes, automation, and improved visibility.
- Collaborate effectively with Core Services (Device Registry, MDM, Sidecar) and the Network Operations Center (NOC) to enhance observability, alerting, and response workflows.
- Standardize configurations and rollout models (base + overlays) to minimize variance across diverse restaurant networks.
- Design for resilience by enabling cellular failover, LTE monitoring, and implementing automated recovery patterns via controllers.
- Take ownership of service quality metrics, including uptime, response time, and issue recurrence, reporting progress on reliability improvements.
What Success Looks Like
- Merchant networks and devices are fully managed through GitOps, complete with versioned configuration and clear audit trails.
- Elo device management (via MDM) is automated, fully observable, and requires zero-touch intervention.
- On-site visits and recurring network incidents are significantly reduced due to robust systemic fixes.
- The team demonstrates operational excellence, effectively closing the loop between monitoring, alerts, and proactive problem resolution.
- Client environments are managed with the same high standards of reliability, observability, and governance as SpotOn’s cloud infrastructure.
Compensation & Benefits
The base pay range for this role is $170,000 - $210,000. This is part of a comprehensive compensation package that includes a company stock plan, with offers tailored to the candidate's location and experience.
