Job Description
Data Scientist II - Platform Mission
The Platform team at Spotify creates the technology that enables the company to learn quickly and scale easily, facilitating rapid growth in users and business globally. This team spans multiple disciplines, focusing on building the infrastructure, tooling, frameworks, and capabilities necessary to support a billion customers.
SAFE Insights Team Support
The SAFE Insights team supports five studios within the SAFE Alliance: User Platform, User Fraud, IT, Security, and PACE (Procurement, Analytics, and Cost Engineering). They help these studios understand their impact by running experiments, defining and building performance metrics, and delivering analyses to guide decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Insights Leads and senior data scientists to design and build performance metric frameworks.
- Collaborate with data engineers to create pipelines for key metrics and maintain dashboards for operational and strategic decisions.
- Explore complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for SAFE studios.
- Scope, prioritize, and execute projects, including A/B tests and other experimentation approaches.
- Apply statistical and causal inference methods to evaluate product changes for internal and external users.
- Create compelling data stories through visualizations and reporting to influence decision-making across the Alliance.
- Grow into a strategic analytical partner by tackling increasingly complex data challenges.
Qualifications
- Ability to frame questions, explore complex datasets, and develop insights that drive clarity and action.
- Experience with experimentation, causal inference, and statistical techniques for measuring product impact.
- Deep understanding of communicating insights via dashboards, visualizations, and clear narratives (experience with Tableau, Looker, or similar tools required).
- Proficiency in data science programming languages like Python or R, and comfort with SQL and large-scale data technologies.
- Commitment to building reliable metrics and enabling data-driven decisions with trustworthy data.
- Experience collaborating with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional partners.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire for continuous professional growth.
Location and Flexibility
This role is based in London or Stockholm. Spotify offers the flexibility to work where you work best, with some in-person meetings while allowing for remote work.
