About the Role: Account Executive - Backstage at Spotify
As an Account Executive for Spotify Backstage, you will be instrumental in driving revenue growth by cultivating strong client relationships and understanding their technical requirements related to Backstage. You'll engage with businesses across various industries, guiding them through the adoption and integration of Backstage to significantly enhance their developer experiences, streamline service management, and boost operational efficiency.
Backstage stands as Spotify’s innovative developer platform, centralizing tools, services, and documentation into a unified portal. This platform empowers engineers to build, ship, and operate software more easily, reducing cognitive load and accelerating development through standardized service and infrastructure management.
This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, and customer success, ensuring clients receive a seamless and highly supportive experience. Your success will hinge on your dual ability to grasp the intricate technical aspects of Backstage and align them with the strategic needs of our diverse clientele.
What You'll Do
- Identify and proactively pursue new business opportunities for Backstage, fulfilling a crucial “Hunter” role.
- Develop and meticulously manage a robust sales pipeline, encompassing initial outreach, proposal generation, and negotiation phases.
- Consistently achieve and surpass monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, committed to delivering an exceptional client experience.
- Present compelling case studies and success stories to clearly demonstrate the tangible impact and value of Backstage.
- Actively gather feedback from clients and collaborate effectively with internal teams to ensure product improvements are directly aligned with customer needs.
Technical Expertise & Consultation
- Possess the ability to understand and clearly articulate how Backstage effectively solves critical developer experience challenges.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless and efficient integration of Backstage for clients.
- Work closely with customer success and technical support teams to ensure clients’ long-term success and retention.
Who You Are
- Experienced in a sales role, with a strong preference for backgrounds in SaaS, developer platforms, or cloud services.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets within a B2B environment.
- Experienced in selling to technical stakeholders (e.g., CTOs, developers, DevOps teams) is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with software development, DevOps tools, or broader developer ecosystems.
- Capable of understanding and effectively communicating the technical benefits of Backstage to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with enterprise software or platform sales is highly advantageous.
- Possess strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Exhibit excellent negotiation and closing skills.
- Highly organized, with the proven ability to manage multiple clients and competing priorities effectively.
Where You'll Be
This hybrid role is based in New York City. We champion flexibility, allowing you to work where you are most productive. While there will be some essential in-person meetings, you will also have the flexibility to work from home.
