Assistant Teacher (Level 3) - High Park - PT
Spirit of Math Schools Inc. is seeking a motivated and qualified Assistant Teacher (Level 3) to join our team at the High Park location. This part-time role is designed as a developmental pathway for individuals aspiring to become Primary Teachers.
Job Profile
The Level 3 Assistant Teacher is an adult instructional support role that actively supports classroom instruction and is qualified to independently teach, serving as a substitute teacher when needed. This position requires certification through FTM 2 and offers a unique opportunity for professional growth within our educational community.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older with a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Must be hired as an employee.
- Successful completion of a mandatory background screening (vulnerability check).
- Completion and passing of FTM 1 and FTM 2 certifications.
- Ability to commit to regular weekly shifts.
- Professional communication and classroom conduct are essential.
Core Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Support lesson delivery alongside the Primary Teacher.
- Lead pre-assigned classroom activities such as groupwork, drills, or core topics.
- Provide targeted support to new and struggling students.
- Assist with homework sessions when assigned.
- Maintain classroom flow while the Primary Teacher attends to individual needs or parents.
- Support assessment of new students and work with them independently as required.
- Independently teach or substitute teach in the absence of the primary teacher.
Classroom & Operational Support
- Arrive 15 minutes before class starts.
- Assist with classroom setup and standards upkeep.
- Support transitions, engagement, and student behavior expectations.
- Assist with attendance tracking and follow-up as directed.
Academic & Assessment Support
- Assist with marking and preparation as assigned.
- Provide observational feedback on student progress to the Primary Teacher.
- Assist with updating Brightspace records as required.
