Position Overview

The Security Engineer - Security Operations role is designed to build and enhance security detection capabilities within an environment critical for launching rockets and controlling spacecraft. You will develop tooling and data delivery mechanisms to detect and respond to adversaries before they disrupt SpaceX’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve security detection mechanisms and automation frameworks.
• Engage with system owners to identify and prioritize detection gaps.
• Investigate anomalous or suspicious behavior in a high-stakes environment.
• Participate in adversary emulation activities to validate detection processes.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in incident response, security operations, or a security engineering role or a related bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM field. Proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, Go, C++, Rust) is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with Incident Response or CSIRT team contributions.
• Ability to build ETL pipelines for threat detection logging.
• Experience managing services in Kubernetes environments.
• Knowledge of SIEM systems, security operations procedures, and enterprise security controls.

Additional Requirements

The candidate must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a competitive base salary ranging roughly between $130,000 and $175,000 per year based on level and experience. In addition, you may be eligible for company stock, long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, paid leave, and other perks.

ITAR Requirements

Candidates must meet U.S. Government export regulations requirements. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or equivalent status is required.
