Propulsion Components Design Engineer

SpaceX, founded on the belief that humanity must explore the stars, is searching for a Propulsion Components Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the success or failure of valves, actuators, and other fluid control devices on Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy. Your work directly impacts vehicle success, mission safety, and the future of space exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Challenge current requirements and design groundbreaking solutions.
  • Plan and execute comprehensive flight qualification tests.
  • Troubleshoot issues and conduct root cause investigations.
  • Identify flight risks and implement effective mitigation solutions.
  • Create detailed drawings and coordinate manufacturing processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of hands-on hardware experience in fabrication, assembly, or testing.
  • Experience with CAD or FEA software packages.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in integrated engineering projects (FSAE, NASA student launch, etc.).
  • Knowledge of fluid control components and test instrumentation.
  • Hands-on experience with pressurized systems and analytical programming skills (Python, MATLAB, Excel).

Additional Requirements

  • Must be flexible with long hours and weekend work.
  • Travel required to vendors and other SpaceX facilities.
