Job Summary

SpaceX is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team on the 2nd shift. This entry-level position is vital for providing quality food options that contribute to the morale and productivity of our employees as we work towards making humanity multi-planetary. As a Cook, you will apply basic cooking principles and techniques, maintain high food safety standards, and expertly operate standard kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities of a Cook

  • Set up, operate, and maintain a clean and safe work station.
  • Complete daily food preparation tasks efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the team to meet time and quality standards set by leadership.
  • Cook and plate completed dishes for service with precision.
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen equipment and work/storage areas.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Culinary degree and 2+ years of experience in the food service industry OR 4+ years of experience in the food service industry.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated basic knife skills and knowledge of various kitchen equipment.
  • Possession of or willingness to obtain a CA food handler card.
  • High level of professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in a corporate food service setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective teamwork.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of standard kitchen hierarchy and different roles.
  • Sound understanding of basic cooking methods, including sauce making and meat/vegetable preparations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Proactive willingness to learn new techniques and accept guidance from leadership.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be available for the 2nd shift: Monday to Friday from 11 AM to 9:30 PM.
  • Ability to carry large, heavy items, such as dishes in tubs or trays, unassisted (up to 25 lbs.).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours a day.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends, as needed.
  • Capable of performing frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects.
