Job Details

Structures Design Engineer - Falcon & Dragon

SpaceX is dedicated to enabling human life on Mars through groundbreaking space technology. As a Structures Design Engineer, you will contribute to new development and support existing vehicle fleets by designing hardware, managing assembly configurations, and collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware for Falcon and Dragon vehicle upgrades using NX.
  • Create detailed component and assembly drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Manage CAD integration and hardware packaging for vehicle systems.
  • Apply first principles and design for manufacturing to solve challenging spacecraft problems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • At least 1 year of mechanical design experience, including internships or personal projects.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software such as NX or Solidworks.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Strong grasp of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
  • Experience in team projects designing hardware under constrained timelines.
  • Familiarity with welded/bolted structures, composites, and fluid systems.
  • Experience with FMEA and FEA.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends.
  • Willingness to travel to various SpaceX sites (up to 25%).

Compensation & Benefits

Salary for Level I ranges from $95,000.00 to $115,000.00 per year while Level II ranges from $110,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year. Additional benefits include company stock options, long-term incentives, 401(k) retirement plan, comprehensive medical coverage, paid vacation, and more.
