Sr. Reliability Engineer (Critical Infrastructure)
SpaceX, founded on the vision of human space exploration, is advancing technology to enable human life on Mars. As a member of the critical infrastructure team, you will design, build, activate, and maintain some of the world’s most technically advanced manufacturing facilities at SpaceX's Hawthorne production facility.
Responsibilities:
- Lead project teams, consulting engineers, and contractors through MEP engineering processes.
- Provide technical support ensuring compliance with standards and codes.
- Manage maintenance for HVAC, electrical, cranes, facilities, security, and fire protection systems.
- Oversee design, documentation, and reports for large-scale projects.
- Resolve design and construction conflicts in real time.
- Prepare and coordinate capital projects ensuring specifications, budgets and deadlines are met.
- Communicate schedules with personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure reliability and maintainability of installations and respond to facility emergencies.
- Write, negotiate, and manage scope across multiple disciplines.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or other engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience with MEP building systems in design or construction.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering design software.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Field management experience in aerospace, heavy industrial or large commercial projects.
- Experience in conceptual design, budgeting, and contract management for capital projects.
- Expertise in electrical systems, HVAC design, plumbing, and critical power infrastructures.
- Knowledge of building codes such as NEC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and IBC.
Additional Requirements:
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical activities and emergencies.
- This role is on-site at the Hawthorne, CA facility and may require relocation.
- Occasional extended hours and weekend work.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and operate industrial equipment.
Compensation & Benefits: Base salary range from $125,000 to $175,000 per year with additional incentives such as stock options, bonuses, comprehensive medical coverage, retirement plans, and paid time off.
