Automation and Test Engineer (Starlink)

SpaceX is engineering a future of space exploration and global connectivity with its Starlink satellite constellation. As an Automation and Test Engineer on the Starlink team, you will design and build hardware-in-the-loop test systems, develop software that simulates flight-like conditions, and integrate these systems into the Starlink continuous integration and software release process.

Responsibilities:

• Design automated hardware-in-the-loop (HITL/HIL) test platforms.
• Build ground support equipment to power and control satellite systems.
• Develop software to simulate realistic, on-orbit scenarios.
• Investigate and resolve system bugs across hardware and software.
• Integrate new test platforms into the Starlink CI process.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams for troubleshooting and enhancements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Python.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience with hardware test setups and Linux/Bash.
• Data analysis and simulation software experience.
• Containerization with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and unit testing skills.
• Knowledge of networking, RF communications, electronics, and physics.

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required.
