Summary of the Digital Operations & Data Specialist Role

This role ensures the accurate execution of digital operational tasks, maintains up‑to‑date procedures and training resources, and upholds service excellence standards across all digital channels. The position involves close partnership with cross‑functional and digital teams to create reports, improve processes, and support key initiatives across online, mobile, payments, and account‑opening platforms.

Essential Functions

  • Gather and collect data from multiple and varied internal and external sources, such as performance reports, benchmarks, market research, and transaction volumes.
  • Analyze collected data and present it in a format easily understood by others.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with cross-functional teams and the digital team to interpret data trends and patterns as they relate to digital banking, determining areas for improvement in relation to data.
  • Ensure digital procedures are kept current, including daily maintenance of the digital systems; evaluate existing operational procedures for efficiency improvements.
  • Tackle multiple projects, aggressive deadlines, competing priorities, and a broad stakeholder audience.
  • Perform exception management of digital bots and conduct quality assurance testing.
  • Navigate multiple systems to professionally perform service tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Maintain understanding of all digital processes and systems, including Online Banking, Mobile Banking, Payments, and Online Account Opening.
  • Develop and implement training resources for all digital channels.

Qualifications

Education Requirements
  • 4-year degree preferred but not required.
Minimum Experience
  • 3-5 years of banking experience; digital banking experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Proficiency in Windows-based PC skills (Microsoft Office 360) is required, specifically Excel.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Self‑directed workload and time management in a remote environment.
  • Accountability without direct oversight.
  • Broad knowledge of banking operations, including products, services, processes, and compliance.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet designated deadlines.
  • Analytical with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies and exercise judgment.
  • Critical Thinking, Sound Judgment, and Problem-Solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft’s suite of office products, such as Excel, Word, PPT.
  • Knowledge of SouthState’s internal systems a plus.
  • Strong Planning & Organizational Skills, Communication Skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team Player, Collaborating & Relating.
  • Self-starter.
  • Proficient in all SouthState’s digital processes and systems, including Online, Mobile, and Digital Payments, according to industry standards.
  • Skilled at monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing account activity.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Power BI preferred.

Scope of Responsibility

Establish and maintain strong partnerships with cross-functional teams on key initiatives and comfort with making judgment calls.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to communicate in person, on the phone, and through electronic channels.
  • Ability to use a computer on a frequent basis, including typing and sustained attention to a monitor.
  • Ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and reach.

Work Environment

Remote or hybrid: For remote or hybrid positions, a secure and distraction-free setting is required, with a reliable internet connection (cable or fiber preferred, mobile hotspots not acceptable). Hybrid positions will report to a physical Company location, as directed by the manager, and that setting will be a typical office environment.
