We are seeking a highly motivated Intelligence Project Intern who is passionate about civil rights and committed to public interest work. This internship offers exceptional students the opportunity to contribute to our vital mission.

  • Driven: You have the ability to assist our team in conducting research to support efforts countering white supremacy and hard-right extremism in the U.S.
  • Data-Driven: You are capable of compiling and analyzing data in both qualitative and quantitative forms, with a keen interest in collecting, compiling, and analyzing data extracted from open-source intelligence.
  • Mission, Vision & Values Aligned: You demonstrate a clear understanding of and a strong commitment to SPLC's mission, vision, and values.

What You'll Do as an Intelligence Project Intern

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to our Intelligence Project. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Focusing on key research projects by working alongside our Intelligence Project Research team to research, write, and analyze data.
  • Assisting in drafting research memos, fact sheets, and other written materials.
  • Monitoring news and other sources for relevant information pertinent to our work.
  • Identifying useful resources, analyses, and information of relevance for the Intelligence Project.
  • Collaborating with other members of the Intelligence Project team to support ongoing policy research needs.
  • Upholding our JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) principles by seeking diverse collaborators and partners who can deliver genuine, authentic, and impactful work, ensuring their contributions are directed towards the shared mission, vision, and values of the Center and department’s goals.

Minimum Qualifications

We are committed to equitable hiring practices. To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a minimum of a bachelor's degree program at a four-year college or university.
  • Demonstrated research capabilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Compensation & Work Arrangement

The Center offers a compensation rate of $17.95 per hour. Interns are expected to work 40 hours per week, with potential for supervisor-approved overtime. This is a remote position, offering flexible work hours with periodic daytime meetings. This position will report to the Manager, Research.

Other Important Considerations

This job is performed under general office conditions and does not involve strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.

Interns are expected to begin on June 1st, 2026, and a minimum commitment of ten consecutive weeks is required. We are unable to accommodate split summers.
