The Project Management Office (PMO) ensures consistent project execution across the fleet through governance, oversight, and strategic guidance. We are seeking an experienced PMO Project Manager to join our team, focusing on project assessments, lifecycle management, and audit functions for projects of varying complexity.

The successful candidate will facilitate project governance, conduct independent assessments, and provide oversight to ensure compliance with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and SNC standards. This role involves interfacing with project teams across multiple nuclear sites, providing leadership and support to drive superior performance, safety, and reliability in project execution.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

To excel as a PMO Project Manager, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is strongly preferred. An advanced degree or specialized training in project management or nuclear industry operations is a significant plus.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of project management experience is essential, preferably within highly regulated industries such as nuclear energy, power generation, or utilities. Experience managing or overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary projects across all phases of the project lifecycle is also required. Demonstrated experience applying project governance frameworks, risk management, and quality assurance principles is critical. Prior experience conducting project assessments, audits, or performance reviews is highly desirable. Working knowledge of nuclear industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices (e.g., INPO, NRC, PMI) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The ideal PMO Project Manager candidate will possess:

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and performance tracking.
  • Ability to assess project health and compliance with governance standards, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Expertise in risk identification, mitigation strategies, and change management processes.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence project outcomes through collaboration and effective communication.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, Power BI).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and present clear findings.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including preparing and presenting reports to senior management.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams across multiple plant sites and corporate offices.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain unescorted access to all SNC facilities.

Behavioral Attributes

Southern Nuclear values include:

  • Demonstrating Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance, and Total Commitment.
  • Acting with honesty, respect, and fairness, maintaining integrity in all interactions.
  • Dedication to superior performance and continuous improvement.
  • Prioritizing safety, teamwork, and diversity while fostering collaboration.
  • Commitment to the success of employees, customers, and shareholders.
  • Being self-directed, results-oriented, and taking strong initiative.
  • Customer-focused, driven to deliver excellence in project outcomes.

This position may require successful completion of SNC Initial Project Management or Engineering Training, which can be several weeks long and may involve studying after work hours.
