Overview
Join Southern California Edison (SCE) as a Grid System Operator 1 and help build a better tomorrow. In this role, you will work at the SCE Grid Control Center ensuring electrical system reliability using the Energy Management System and related applications.
Responsibilities
- Monitor system conditions and real-time data for optimal reliability.
- Prepare system event reports and participate in event analysis.
- Track interconnected system conditions, analyze operating limits, and mitigate contingencies.
- Facilitate outages and oversee corrective maintenance.
- Direct changes to electrical components to maintain system integrity.
- Determine system adjustments and load shedding during emergencies per NERC and WECC standards.
- Maintain accurate operations logs and switching orders.
- Activate notification protocols during system events.
Qualifications
Minimum three years of experience in electric system operations is required. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is preferred along with experience in bulk power transmission and familiarity with NERC, WECC, and California ISO standards. Certification as a NERC System Operator is a plus.
Additional Information
This is an on-site position primarily based in Alhambra, CA. Candidates may also be required to work at an alternate Grid Control Center in Irvine. This is a NERC/CIP impacted role and requires passing a Personnel Risk Assessment and specific training.
