Compliance Senior Specialist
Join Southern California Edison (SCE) and contribute to building a better tomorrow by powering the clean energy revolution. In this critical leadership role, you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and governance of SCE’s Compliance Program. You will partner closely with senior leadership, compliance program owners, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risks, and drive continuous process improvement across CPUC, FERC, Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety), and NERC regulations, while also supporting the Risk-based Compliance model. Your work will directly contribute to fueling innovation in the energy sector, reducing carbon emissions, and creating cleaner air for everyone.
Responsibilities
- Interface with vendors and certification bodies to initiate projects, deliver test data and documentation, and resolve compliance issues.
- Provide technical expertise in regulatory compliance, covering environmental, health, energy, and safety regulations.
- Participate in incident investigations and develop corrective actions for compliance deficiencies.
- Identify regulatory trends to inform strategic decisions for the leadership team.
- Maintain an effective internal control system to ensure adherence to regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant acts, government policies, procedures, corporate policies, and contractual obligations.
- Identify process improvement opportunities through incident investigations, root cause analysis, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical guidance on the interpretation of compliance regulations.
- Contribute to the protection of the company's physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and manage sensitive data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in regulatory compliance, guidelines, compliance standards, risk assessment of noncompliance issues, or cybersecurity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Regulatory Compliance, or a related field.
- Experience in regulatory compliance, CPMO/project management, or risk-based compliance within the energy or utility industry.
- Experience working with NERC CIP and Operations & Planning standards.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, managing complex projects, and influencing senior leadership.
- Experience with process improvement, automation, data analysis, and SharePoint governance.
- Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.
Additional Information
- This position has a hybrid work mode, requiring employees to report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on remaining days. Employees are generally required to work and reside in California.
- Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
- This is a NERC/CIP impacted position, requiring a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation prior to hiring and completion of specified training after hiring.
