Administration Officer - Emergency Department at South Western Sydney Local Health District

As an Administration Officer - Emergency Department, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of safe, timely emergency administrative care. This involves providing high-quality administrative and customer service support within a fast-paced clinical environment at Liverpool Hospital. Working as part of a dedicated Emergency Department administration team, you will collaborate closely with clinicians and support staff to ensure smooth patient flow and positive experiences for patients and families.

Your responsibilities will include accurate registration, admissions, effective communication, and the respectful handling of sensitive information, contributing directly to patient-centered care. This position offers the opportunity to develop a broad range of administrative and organizational skills across a 24-hour, seven-day service. You will be required to work a set rotating roster comprising morning, afternoon, and night shifts, which is a compulsory requirement of the role. The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders is essential.

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, respectful customer service in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
  • Ideally, you would have completed a Business Administration Cert 3 course or possess extensive administrative experience.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, pays attention to detail, ensures accuracy with tasks, and practices active listening when working with multidisciplinary teams such as families, clinicians, and colleagues, both in person and over the phone.
  • Is highly organized and able to manage competing priorities accurately while working under pressure.
  • Possesses prior administrative experience with strong computer and data entry skills, with the ability to use hospital or administrative information systems effectively.
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team while also showing initiative and the ability to work independently, maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
  • Is adaptable, reliable, and available to work a 24-hour, seven-day rotating roster within a busy Emergency Department. This is not negotiable.
