Aboriginal Population Health Programs Coordinator at South Eastern Sydney Local Health District

As an Aboriginal Population Health Programs Coordinator, you will provide high-level speciality support for the management of Aboriginal population health programs and projects. This role supports the efficient and effective operation of the Equity and Prevention Service and Public Health Unit to achieve business and service objectives, including health outcome action plans for diabetes prevalence in adults, and immunisation in adolescents and adults.

You will lead projects specifically designed to address the unique health needs of the Aboriginal population, relevant to Population and Community Health (PaCH) services. This role emphasizes collaboration and coordination of Aboriginal population health initiatives across PaCH services, working closely with the SESLHD Aboriginal Health Directorate.

Where You'll Be Working

Population and Community Health (PaCH) is an integral part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. PaCH delivers comprehensive community health services to individuals, families, and carers, alongside population health services focused on the entire community or key groups within it.

Services are provided across the District’s hospitals, community-based facilities including child and family health centres, community health centres, and specialist clinics. We actively collaborate with other service providers across SESLHD, including hospitals and mental health services, ensuring integrated care. This position is located at Darlinghurst Community Health Centre.

Essential Requirements

  • Being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977).
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Aboriginal Health, health promotion, public health; or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal Health; as well as planning, implementing and evaluating population health programs and initiatives with Aboriginal communities.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills with a strong customer service approach.
  • Demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills that lead to the development of innovative solutions to the delivery of population health initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist in the development of policy and processes in accordance with approved guidelines.
  • Current drivers licence with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
