About The Role
The role of the Aboriginal Palliative Care Coordinator is to support Aboriginal patients approaching the end of life, working with clinicians, community-based service providers and provide culturally appropriate care. This position will work alongside existing Aboriginal Cancer Care Coordinators and Aboriginal Liaison Officers.
SLHD is committed to supporting the wellbeing of Aboriginal Staff and the Aboriginal Palliative Care Coordinator will receive regular cultural supervision, regular clinical supervision, and debriefing after deaths and significant events.
Ideal Candidate
This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977.
- Has an understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people in relation to grief and loss and Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing.
- Capacity to lead the development of culturally safe environments for Aboriginal patients and their families within a multidisciplinary team.
- Holds a current NSW driver licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
