The Opportunity
I am currently partnering with a leading global financial institution to find a seasoned Senior Data Engineer. This is a high-impact role within their Corporate Technology division, focusing specifically on the modernization of their Investment Management data ecosystem. You will be at the forefront of their digital transformation, architecting advanced data products, high-performance pipelines (batch and streaming), and scalable warehouse solutions that directly influence investment strategies and operational efficiency.
The Role
- In this position, you will bridge the gap between complex financial data and actionable insights. Working alongside a global team of architects and analysts, you will:
- Architect and maintain sophisticated ELT/ETL workflows to synthesize diverse data sources into a unified, high-integrity data asset.
- Define and implement rigorous data quality frameworks and monitoring tools to ensure the reliability of critical financial information.
- Partner with Investment Management stakeholders to translate complex business needs into robust technical specifications.
- Collaborate on data modeling standards and contribute to the evolution of the firm’s database architecture.
- Mentor peer developers and provide technical feedback on system design and documentation.
Core Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience: 8+ years in Data Engineering, Data Modeling, and Database Design.
- Tooling: 5+ years of hands-on experience with ELT methodologies and expert-level SQL tuning/troubleshooting.
- Coding: 3+ years of professional experience in Python, Scala, or Java.
- Big Data: 2+ years of experience utilizing the Spark framework.
Preferred Qualifications (The "Plus" List)
- FinTech Domain: Specific experience with Investment Management operations (Security Masters, Trade Recon, Pricing, or Reference Data).
- Platforms: Exposure to IBOR/ABOR systems (e.g., Aladdin, Charles River, Eagle STAR/Pace) or investment data hubs (e.g., GoldenSource, FINBOURNE, NeoXam).
- Modern Stack: Familiarity with Snowflake, Vertica, or other columnar distributed databases.
- ETL Tools: Knowledge of Informatica IDMC or PowerCenter.
- Visualization: Proficiency in reporting tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Soft Skills: A consultative mindset with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
