Role Summary: Director, Website Strategy and Operations
The Director, Website Strategy and Operations is responsible for the overall strategy, performance, and execution of Sophos’ global website ecosystem. This pivotal role ensures the website functions as a high-impact engine for enhancing brand awareness, driving demand generation, and fostering customer engagement. The successful candidate will define and deliver a modern, scalable web roadmap designed to improve user experience, optimize conversion rates, and align with Sophos’ global go-to-market objectives.
This leadership position involves close collaboration with Integrated Marketing, Product Marketing, Field Marketing, Creative, UX, and Digital teams to swiftly bring high-quality, relevant content and experiences to market. Beyond day-to-day site operations, the role champions innovation in SEO/AEO, personalization, analytics, and leverages emerging AI-driven web capabilities. A core responsibility is leading and developing a high-performing global web team.
What You Will Do
- Lead the management and optimization of Sophos’ website properties, ensuring the site is the highest-performing Marketing vehicle for brand awareness and demand generation through a strategic technical roadmap.
- Own and optimize for AEO and SEO across all global languages to achieve traffic and engagement goals.
- Build advanced website capabilities, including personalization and vector search, to significantly drive conversions.
- Collaborate with integrated marketing, creative, field marketing, and product marketing teams to deliver high-quality, relevant content that supports business goals and drives strong lead conversion.
- Increase speed to market by streamlining development and publishing processes, implementing automation, and integrating technologies.
- Establish and execute a framework for best-in-class development practices for enterprise web properties.
- Manage agency relationships, coordinating activities and deliverables effectively.
- Oversee a growing team of web marketing professionals, including content producers and developers, providing training, leadership, mentorship, and guidance in industry best practices.
- Understand and prioritize web requirements from cross-functional teams to accelerate growth aligned with business objectives.
- Act as an internal subject matter expert and thought leader for all aspects of website management, elevating strategic thinking and maximizing marketing impact through current techniques and tools.
- Drive cross-functional alignment with other digital leaders in User Experience and Paid and Earned Media to maximize overall Marketing effectiveness.
- Identify KPIs, establish benchmarks, and own website reporting and analytics to provide regular insights and optimize efforts.
What You Will Bring
- 8 to 10 years of experience in websites and web management.
- Proven experience in management and senior-level Marketing with a track record of success.
- Deep expertise in building and evolving complex CMS systems like Drupal, Contentful, or Webflow.
- Expertise in web analytics (Google Analytics), A/B Testing, technical and content SEO, web QA, and domain/URL management.
- Knowledge of AI as it relates to changes in web and particularly AI Search is preferred.
- Understanding of HTML/CSS/Javascript, UI Design, digital ADA compliance, and web optimization.
- Experience working closely with product marketing teams, content managers, UX/UI designers, and developers to deliver world-class digital content.
- Ability to prioritize and make trade-off decisions across multiple projects and various cross-functional stakeholder groups.
- Ability to drive influence and move quickly within a fast-paced, highly matrixed business environment.
- Results-oriented with strong ability to communicate strategy, build business cases and roadmaps, and analyze data to translate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
- Demonstrated success managing high-performing, highly collaborative teams across multiple time zones, including Asia.
