Job Description Summary
This role begins as a contingent position with the potential to transition to a permanent role. The Construction Engineer 2 will support EPC operation-related engineering concerns and provide general guidance on best practices from project start through the end of SOLV’s warranty period. This is a fully remote position.
Position Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform all essential Construction Engineer job responsibilities, facilitating open communication between operations and engineering.
- Act as the point of contact for operations to present engineering concerns and work with SOLV Engineering, partners, and vendors to provide engineered solutions.
- Assist the operations team with engineering-related construction RFIs (Requests for Information) during the construction phase.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of all project-specific design requirements, including SOLV Energy, client/contract, and permit requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with site teams, including Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Management.
- Ensure sufficient knowledge of the SOLV EPC Contract to support operations and confirm SOLV compliance.
- Direct the implementation of autonomous pile driving systems to achieve material, labor, and schedule savings.
- Assist the operations team with engineering-intensive clients and their representatives.
- Guide project teams through design comments with consultants.
- Assist the warranty team in confirming responsibility for manufacturer failures, compromised design, or installation errors.
- Develop and lead project-specific training for project team personnel on GPS-enabled pile drivers, associated software, and proprietary tools.
- Support SOLV Energy's development of continuous construction monitoring using drone technology.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of construction-related experience, or equivalent.
- Excellent written communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Aptitude for problem-solving with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel.
- Exposure in CAD/GIS and aptitude for proficiency in these and other engineering software.
- Ability to read and understand project drawings and specifications.
- Field experience preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Occasional exposure to weather, vibration, dust, fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic/caustic chemicals.
- Constant ability to see details at close range and distance, hear, talk, and possess depth perception.
- Occasional driving, climbing, carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and working in high exposed places.
- Noise intensity levels can be high.
- Ability to work in office and field settings and manage daily responsibilities during site visits.
