Overview

The Freelance Raw Materials Specialist role at Solomon Page supports a top fashion company in New York, NY. This is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week for a 6+ month contract.

Responsibilities

  • Support the RM Director to create and maintain seasonal raw material portfolios.
  • Monitor developments, troubleshoot issues, and facilitate solutions.
  • Communicate with managers, Hub teams, and mills to resolve issues.
  • Gather and review fabric submits, FDS sheets, and test reports.
  • Maintain physical records, presentation boards, and digital databases.
  • Assess high risk fabric developments during Stage 1 risk assessment.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and overseas mills.
  • Collaborate with the Sourcing team to deliver timely samples.
  • Verify fabric details for quality, finish, and color pre-order.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with raw materials sourcing or development.
  • Background in fabric or textiles; technical experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Textiles, Design, or related field (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; familiarity with Web PLM is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Deadline-driven with urgency and accuracy.
