Uncover Hiring Manager

Job Description

Solutions Architect at Snowflake

Snowflake is dedicated to empowering enterprises and individuals to reach their full potential. Our culture thrives on impact, innovation, and collaboration, making Snowflake an ideal environment for significant achievements, rapid progress, and advancing technology and careers.

We are seeking data experts with robust backgrounds in building data platforms, eager to leverage their skills to elevate data teams. Our team assists customers on their data journey with Snowflake, which is quickly becoming the primary data platform for organizations of all sizes. This role involves working on some of the most intricate data projects in a post-sales capacity.

We are hiring across various seniority levels, though we require relevant experience. During the interview process, your expertise will be assessed and matched to our internal career levels.

What We Are Offering

We foster a collaborative environment, ensuring everyone stays current with the latest features in the Snowflake Data Cloud. Following the largest software IPO, Snowflake continues its rapid growth, offering abundant opportunities to influence the future of data analytics. You will engage with Snowflake's cutting-edge capabilities and the advanced technologies of our partners.

Our compensation package includes a highly competitive salary and equity. We prioritize work-life balance, offering market-leading annual vacation time and 'Snowdays' (explore #snowday posts on LinkedIn). For families, we provide attractive parental leave and support for adoption, surrogacy, pregnancy, or infant care. Private medical and insurance plans are part of our benefits where customary, along with strong private pension plans and other country-specific benefits.

Who We Are

The Snowflake Data Cloud was developed from the ground up for the modern cloud, enabling seamless scalability from small startups to the world's largest enterprises. Our mission is to mobilize the world's data, empowering businesses to be truly data-driven. We emphasize ease of use, which allows us to support companies at every stage of their data maturity journey. Discover examples of our impact across diverse industries.

We have achieved remarkable success and continue to expand rapidly, both in Europe and globally. This dynamic growth means constant adaptation in our work processes, welcoming input from every team member, offering you a chance to make a significant impact.

What We Do

As part of Snowflake's Service Delivery (SD) team, we create solutions that transform our customers' businesses. After customers choose Snowflake, we guide them through their implementation journey.

This journey may begin with our migrations team, assisting customers in planning and executing their data migration to Snowflake. Alternatively, it might start with a Quick Start consultation, where we simultaneously convey best practices for Snowflake and apply them to specific customer use cases.

Subsequently, we may return to analyze customer progress and offer further guidance, potentially focusing on areas like security posture. Other customers prefer continuous engagement, where we support them for a year or more, from initial platform setup to solving complex challenges with advanced use cases.

How We Work

We provide expert guidance to our customers. For most implementation tasks, we collaborate with our customers' engineering teams or members of our partner network.

While our core expertise is Snowflake, our platform is typically central to broader data architectures, which we help design. This includes architecting for GDPR compliance or integrating with existing data lakes.

Beyond customer support, we support each other through internal Slack channels, contributing to our internal knowledge base, and organizing 'lunch and learn' sessions.

We primarily work remotely, a model that has proven successful. While region-specific practices exist, we serve customers across Europe; a consultant in Finland, for instance, might work with a client in the Netherlands. Internally, we function as a cohesive global team.

What We Are Looking For

We seek individuals with a strong background in building data platforms and navigating the broader data landscape. Some team members excel in data warehousing or data engineering, while others specialize in data science or analytics. The data warehouse is our common ground.

The ideal candidate can translate ambiguous business requirements into precise technical specifications, devise appropriate solutions, and effectively communicate both their technical merits and business impact to stakeholders at all levels. As Snowflake constantly adds new features, explaining novel concepts is vital for our collective success.

Given Snowflake's cloud-native nature, experience in architecting solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP is a significant advantage. Similarly, familiarity with data security, governance, and discoverability concepts will be highly beneficial.

While SQL proficiency is universal within our team, Snowflake is rapidly evolving to include native integrations with Python, Java, and Scala via Snowpark. Experience with Spark will be highly valuable here.

DataOps and DevOps for data teams are increasingly important. We regularly engage in setting up CI/CD pipelines with automated tests and rollback capabilities.

Bonus Points To Have

We believe Data Sharing will be pivotal for the next generation of the data cloud. Familiarity with Data Sharing and Data Marketplace implementation would be a considerable asset.

Snowflake is expanding rapidly, and we are scaling our team to facilitate and accelerate this growth. We value individuals who align with our values, challenge conventional thinking, and drive innovation, while building their careers and contributing to Snowflake's future. How do you envision making your impact?
