Role Overview: Security Engineer Level 5

As a Security Engineer at Snap Inc, you will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of security controls and frameworks across various domains including backend infrastructure, cloud environments, corporate systems, and abuse detection platforms. You will architect solutions against emerging threats and drive cross-functional security initiatives. You will also build protective tooling, enhance detection capabilities, and mentor peers to foster a culture of security excellence.

• Lead security design and implementation.
• Architect and deploy threat countermeasures.
• Collaborate with multiple teams for secure practices.
• Conduct security reviews and threat modeling.
• Build and operate advanced protective tooling.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Deep expertise in secure design, threat mitigation, applied defenses, secure cloud and infrastructure technologies, Kubernetes, containers, IAM, networking, CSPM tools, and Zero Trust principles.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience with 6+ years post-Bachelor’s in security, or higher degrees with corresponding experience. Expertise in domains such as infrastructure security, enterprise security, access management, application security, detection and response, or abuse prevention. Preferred experience includes securing complex distributed systems, strong programming and design skills, and familiarity with emerging technologies like AI/ML security.
