About the role
About the Role
In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Contract Review Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review AI-generated contract analyses and drafting outputs and/or create expert contract content, evaluating reasoning quality and step-by-step issue spotting while providing precise written feedback. You will assess solutions for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and adherence to the prompt; identify errors in clause interpretation, risk allocation, missing terms, ambiguity, enforceability concerns, and negotiation strategy; fact-check legal concepts and (when required) citations; write high-quality explanations and model revisions that demonstrate correct, risk-aware contract reasoning; and rate and compare multiple responses based on correctness and reasoning quality.
This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, delivering training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs. Please note there is no immediate project for this role; however, if qualified, you will be among the first experts we reach out to when relevant opportunities arise. This will also provide you with access to future projects available through our expert network.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop AI Training Content: Create detailed prompts and gold-standard contract outputs (issue lists, redlines, negotiation notes, clause rewrites, playbook guidance).
- Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve correctness, defensibility, clarity, and practical negotiation usefulness.
- Ensure Model Integrity: Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, misleading certainty, confidentiality risks, and bias; validate reliability across contract scenarios.
Your Profile
- JD/LLB (or equivalent) or Paralegal/Contracts professional background with substantial contract review experience (depending on role level).
- 5+ years of professional experience in contracts (in-house legal, law firm, procurement, vendor management, legal ops, or contracts management).
- Strong ability to identify and explain contract risk: liability caps, indemnities, warranties, limitations/exclusions, termination rights, payment risk, IP ownership/licensing.
- Experience reviewing and redlining common commercial agreements (as applicable): MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs, SaaS/subscription agreements, vendor/supplier agreements, services agreements.
- Comfort with privacy/security clauses (high level): confidentiality, data processing, security standards, breach notification, subcontractors, audit rights.
- Strong attention to detail: spotting ambiguity, inconsistent definitions, missing exhibits, conflicting clauses, and misaligned business terms; minimum C1 English proficiency.
- Ability to write clear, practical guidance and produce “gold standard” redlines/explanations for non-legal audiences.
- Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.
- Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools and version control is a plus.
- Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, legal QA, knowledge management, or template library maintenance is strongly preferred.
