Position Summary

The Underwriting Assistant - Surety position provides support to the Surety Underwriting Team at Skyward Specialty Insurance. In this role, you will interact with underwriters, agents, and clients, input new bond transactions, manage endorsements, update agency information, and perform general administrative functions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process bond transactions including new bonds, riders, renewals, cancellations, endorsements, and reinstatements.
  • Provide service support to internal and external customers by addressing inquiries.
  • Retrieve and verify document data using various systems.
  • Assist in preparation, tracking, and audit of agent logs and job status inquiries.
  • Run credit reports and maintain organized account files for new submissions.
  • File and archive correspondence, bonds, and client documents.
  • Apply independent judgment on complex assignments within established guidelines.
  • Support additional administrative tasks and special projects as needed.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Surety experience is required and a High School diploma is a must.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and in teams.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary ranges from $55,000 to $70,000, based on experience, skills, and location. This role also includes performance-based incentives along with a comprehensive benefits package including health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401k, employee stock purchase program, paid time off, holidays, and additional employee programs.
