Assistant Food Service Director
The Assistant Food Service Director (AFSD) is responsible for the efficient operation of meal preparation for residents at a designated Detention Facility. This role focuses on ensuring food safety in kitchen operations while supervising resident workers and maintaining equipment and work areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee meal preparation and cooking processes
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and equipment maintenance
- Supervise resident workers and liaise with facility staff
- Manage food shortages, order damages and adhere to policies
- Assist in menu planning with the operations manager
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least one year experience in a food service setting
- Knowledge of food preparation methods and safety regulations
- Ability to work independently in a secure corrections environment
- Flexibility for varied shifts, weekends, and holidays
Physical and Other Abilities
- Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 40-50 pounds), and perform physical tasks
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks
