About the Role: Lead Software Engineer (Platform)
We're looking for a lead software engineer to own the development of Skiller Whale's web application. In this role, you will architect the system, maintain and build our platform, solve problems, and help deliver excellent learning experiences for software engineers.
What You'll Do
- Design and build cloud-based system architecture.
- Plan and develop new app features such as video conferencing groups and shared whiteboards.
- Improve build, testing, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with the CTO and other teams to define and execute on the product roadmap.
- Potentially contribute to teaching material and live workshops.
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building, maintaining and securing web applications.
- 3+ years working with Ruby on Rails in a commercial environment.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Terraform preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup/scale-up environment.
Nice to Have
- Performance, monitoring, and security ownership of web services.
- Experience mentoring developers.
- Familiarity with React and TypeScript.
- Experience with Docker and additional programming languages.

Compensation & Benefits
- £80,000-110,000 FTE salary, based on background.
