How You’ll Make An Impact

As a Product Management Summer Intern, Listener Experience, you will play a key role in the creation of compelling and user-friendly experiences for millions of SiriusXM listeners and customers. You will collaborate closely with product designers, product analysts, other product managers, and leadership to bring differentiated listener experiences and features to market, prioritize improvements, and accurately measure success. This internship offers the unique opportunity to build and deliver a small feature, experiment, or process improvement, gaining valuable exposure across the entire digital product development organization. It is an ideal role for individuals interested in understanding how large-scale media products leverage metadata, content systems, and cross-platform design to create intuitive, personalized listener experiences.

In This Role, You Will

  • Support the evolution of content discovery, personalization, and utility surfaces across SiriusXM’s mobile, web, TV, and automotive experiences.
  • Contribute to cross-surface product initiatives that span metadata, content presentation, and listener navigation, ensuring consistency and clarity across all platforms.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive a feature, experiment, or process improvement from end-to-end, encompassing user interviews, requirements definition, feature development, and results measurement.
  • Respond to existing insights and internal metrics to inform product decisions and prioritize work, using data to articulate a compelling story, gain buy-in, and generate excitement.
  • Collaborate across various functions to identify optimal paths forward, providing innovative and simple ideas to enhance operational capabilities and benefit listeners and customers. This involves building relationships with SiriusXM’s expert designers, product managers, analysts, scientists, engineers, sellers, operations managers, and musicologists to move ideas from concept to market.
  • Bring fresh perspectives to challenge conventional wisdom and ask insightful questions.
  • Document trade-offs for different approaches and work collaboratively with leaders to facilitate timely decisions. Synthesize information and feedback into actionable plans.
  • Identify problems, lead productive meetings, and create clear, easy-to-understand documentation.
  • Showcase your work and solicit feedback from a large team of product management experts.
  • Partner with a senior Product Manager on cross-platform initiatives that seamlessly connect app, web, TV, and in-car experiences.
  • Assist in defining and documenting metadata-driven product requirements, including how content attributes are presented across different devices and contexts.
  • Support research, analysis, and synthesis related to listener behavior, content discovery, and habitual listening patterns.
  • Help evaluate and improve content presentation systems (e.g., metadata, imagery, badges, and data hierarchy) to ensure clarity, consistency, and usability.
  • Participate in cross-functional forums with Design, Research, Engineering, Program, and Automotive partners, contributing notes, insights, and follow-ups.
  • Assist with product storytelling and documentation, including decks, briefs, and decision summaries that facilitate stakeholder alignment.
  • Learn how catalog data, content services, and clients integrate to power user-facing experiences.

What You’ll Need

  • An interest in content platforms, personalization systems, or media discovery experiences.
  • Curiosity regarding how data and metadata drive user experiences across diverse devices.
  • Comfort working through ambiguous problems and helping to structure complex systems.
  • Strong written communication skills and an interest in product storytelling and documentation.
  • A desire to understand how large-scale consumer products balance user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities.
  • Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university (preferably those graduating by May 2027) and recent graduates who completed their degree within 12 months prior to the internship start.
  • Previous internship or work experience in consumer Internet or other consumer technology products is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical team members in an Agile-Scrum environment.
  • Interaction design experience or user research experience is a plus.
