How You’ll Make An Impact
We are pleased to offer a summer internship opportunity on our Tooling Design Team, Content & Merchandising. As a Product Design Intern, Content Tooling, you will have the chance to develop your skills in designing internal tooling that empowers SiriusXM’s content curation teams to deliver personalized, engaging content to listeners. You will work on projects that connect data to content curation, personalize content to listeners, enable easy discovery of content, and unify SiriusXM’s content management system. You will work in close collaboration with the Content Tooling design lead, cross functionally with tooling product and engineering teams, and directly with your users, internal content merchandising teams.
What You’ll Do
- Work alongside Design and Product Leadership to influence strategy and shape SiriusXM’s content merchandising experiences.
- Tackle complex projects, collaborating with User Research, Product Management, Engineering, and Business partners to understand user needs and collect insights that inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with the Content Tooling team to conduct discovery work, such as journey mapping, workflow analysis, and competitive auditing.
- Incorporate research and best practices to design wireframes, prototypes, and hi-fi designs that also consider cross-functional requirements and technical constraints.
- Explore multiple solutions, new ideas, and experiments to find the most effective and elegant approach to solving user problems.
- Present design work to Product, Engineering, and Content Tooling partners, clearly communicating rationale, process, and decisions while collecting feedback.
- Work with design operations and product teams to ensure design documentation, specifications, and assets are accurate and up to date.
This internship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in designing tools with direct access to your users, while contributing to a content management system that delivers content for a music product that reaches millions of listeners. You will work closely with experienced professionals who will guide and mentor you throughout the internship, helping you build a strong foundation in design, research, and cross functional collaboration, preparing you for a successful career in the design field.
What You’ll Need
- Eligibility: Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university (those graduating by May 2027 are preferred) and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship majoring in Design, Project Management, Business, or related disciplines.
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
- Knowledge of design processes and workflows: Familiarity with basic design processes, as well as an understanding of how design teams function and deliver work.
- Proficiency in project management tools: Experience with tools like Asana, Trello, Jira, or similar tools is beneficial. Ability to manage tasks, timelines, and documentation is important.
- Strong organizational skills: Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to maintain organized documentation and processes are essential.
- Collaboration and communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and product managers. The ability to provide clear updates, share ideas, and engage actively in team discussions is key.
- Problem-solving skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify workflow issues and propose effective solutions. Critical and creative thinking is necessary to optimize design processes.
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn: Willingness to learn about new tools, methodologies, and design operations strategies. Openness to feedback and a proactive approach to growing in the field of design operations.
- Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing relevant projects, process documentation, or case studies that demonstrate organizational skills and an understanding of design workflows is highly desirable.
