Senior Lead, Product Finance

About The Role

As a Senior Lead, Product Finance at Shopify, you will provide financial leadership to the Payments team, driving financial planning, analysis, and decision support. Responsibilities

• Lead collaborative efforts with product teams to thoroughly understand new and existing products, providing essential financial forecasts and key performance indicators to track performance.
• Partner with business leaders to review performance, supporting quarterly forecasts and the annual investment plan with actionable recommendations.
• Take ownership of preparing materials for Senior Leadership reviews and build alignment with senior stakeholders to resolve ambiguous problems.
• Conduct proactive industry and product research to inform strategic decisions, identify domain-specific opportunities, and champion their implementation across teams to achieve desired outcomes.
• Collaborate with Commercial and Legal teams on business development contracts, evaluate pricing and terms, and recommend optimal paths to Senior Leadership.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performance team, while also contributing to broader teaching and mentoring initiatives across the organization.
• Provide thought leadership and strategic guidance to the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) community.
• Own major analytical problems end-to-end across Shopify, developing industry-leading solutions.
• Play a crucial role in tackling Shopify's most challenging problems.
• Set the pace for accelerated progress and execution.

Requirements

• Significant experience in financial modeling and strategic business planning.
• Ability to independently execute complex projects.
• A proven track record of driving substantial impact in intricate business scenarios.
• Experience in creating robust business cases in a fast-growth business environment.
• Strong proficiency in SQL.
• Possess a growth mindset, a builder’s mentality, and a demonstrated history of effective execution.
• Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous work environments and adeptly navigate change.
• Communicate clearly in both written and verbal forms, foster strong business partnerships, and effectively mentor and teach others.
• A strong performance record in FP&A, investment banking, data science, management consulting, accounting, or a related field.
• Experience within tech or other SaaS-based business models.
