About The Role
Shopify's Trust team develops solutions to prevent, detect, and mitigate bad actors while streamlining complex workflows. The Senior Fraud Operations Analyst is a subject matter expert on merchant fraud, responsible for identifying fraud vectors, detecting high risk patterns, and staying updated on emerging trends.
Responsibilities
- Investigate new risk patterns using data and create scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams for automated solutions.
- Share regular updates and insights with cross-functional teams.
- Mentor team members, maintain playbooks, and document best practices.
- Oversee deep-dive analyses and merchant fraud investigations.
- Develop fraud detection measures balancing prevention and business growth.
- Monitor fraud trends to anticipate emerging threats.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in merchant fraud analysis, especially in payments and ecommerce.
- Deep knowledge of fraud patterns and ability to connect disparate data points.
- Experience shaping fraud prevention strategies and detection rules.
- Exceptional communication skills with diverse audiences.
- Track record in risk evaluations and comprehensive case studies.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, remote environments.
Bonus Experience
- Experience crafting detailed policies and managing knowledge systems.
- Collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Data teams.
- Proficiency in SQL and leveraging data analytics.
- Background in fraud prevention in Banking as a Service or financial crime analysis.
