The Business Intelligence Analyst team at Shopee provides critical analytics support across multiple business teams. This involves delivering ad-hoc analysis, maintaining core reports and scorecards, and ensuring consistent understanding of business context and metric definitions to drive informed decision-making among stakeholders.

Job Description

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will immerse yourself in various business areas, quickly grasping context, key performance indicators (KPIs), and existing analytical workflows. Your responsibilities include reconstructing context from documentation, datasets, dashboards, and stakeholder input to deliver timely analysis that supports decisions for business leaders and managers.

You will clarify the decision purpose, assumptions, and limitations of requests, proposing effective analytical approaches. A core part of your role will be maintaining and improving critical reports, dashboards, and scorecards, ensuring the stability and consistency of metric definitions over time.

Stakeholder Management & Knowledge Preservation

You will manage multiple stakeholder requests, aligning on scope, timelines, and expected outputs. Proactively identify and standardize repeated requests to optimize future workload. Documentation of data sources, SQL logic, assumptions, definitions, and known issues for recurring outputs is essential. You will also prepare handover materials and transfer report/scorecard ownership when necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Economics, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–5 years in analytics / BI / business analysis / ops analytics.
• Experience supporting multiple stakeholders or rotating across domains (e.g., shared services, consulting, operations analytics) is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining recurring reports/scorecards and delivering ad-hoc analyses.
• High adaptability: rapid context switching and fast ramp-up in new domains.
• Strong written/verbal communication: ability to translate ambiguous questions into clear analytical work and explain results to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong SQL and data wrangling skills; ability to work independently with large datasets.
• Solid analytical fundamentals: descriptive analysis, driver/root-cause analysis, cohort/funnel style thinking as applicable.
• Practical BI/reporting skills (e.g., dashboards, scorecards, automated reporting) and comfort maintaining existing assets.
